Situation & Services
Situated in the tightly held Guyong district in the Central West of New South Wales, Quinton is very well serviced locally by Bathurst (30km), Orange city (22km) and Millthorpe (13km) on the Mitchell Highway with several secondary and tertiary schooling services and a range of commercial and health services. It is a comfortable 3¼ hours drive (235km) from Sydney via the Blue Mountains. Excellent livestock selling facilities at the nearby Central Tablelands Livestock Exchange (CTLX).
Topography & Soils
The country ranges from soft alluvial soils with north easterly aspect along the creek flats, rising to gently undulating low hill grazing country lightly scattered with yellow and white box timbers, with predominantly red and brown basalt loam soils ideal for cereal and fodder cropping, improved pastures and lucerne. Strong history of fertilizer and lime.
High Performance Pastures
Overall, the country features an excellent pasture base throughout, with almost the entire holding boasting introduced, high performance pastures including, phalaris, strawberry and sub clovers, fescues and rye, plus other tailored pasture blends including Central Tablelands Pasture Mix, prescribed by local agronomist.
Pastures are sown in rotation with cereal crops including dual purpose grazing triticale and oats crops.
Irrigation
- 160 MgL irrigation license
- 10 acres irrigated lucerne
- 50 acres irrigated walnut plantation (established)
Paddocks & Fencing
Well subdivided into 27 main paddocks with predominantly 5 and 8 line hinge joint fencing. Central laneway connecting northern paddocks to cattle and sheep yards.
Rainfall Average 750mm per annum - predominantly winter/spring.
Water
The property features a new bore (depth 116 metres: flow rate 25,000 ltrs per second). The bore is quipped with a state of the art, pressurised pumping system supplying both the irrigation paddocks and stock water from two elevated storage tanks. The northern end of the property is watered via a network of surface dams (some springfed) plus a seasonal flowing creek system.

Quinton Homestead (c 1874)
A local landmark, the Quinton homestead built under the guidance of well known colonial architect Edward Gell in 1874.

A heritage architect was engaged (2008) to complete the extension to the original bluestone building. Externally, the extension flows seamlessly into the original residence, whilst internally, the homestead boasts a modern chic galley kitchen with open plan dining and living rooms, high end finishes, surround sound audio system, ducted air conditioning and flooded with natural light. Also features the master bedroom complete with ensuite and outdoor deck viewing the traditional Japanese garden.
Quinton Gardens
Quinton homestead is surrounded by extensive landscaped gardens with box hedge gardens and lawns meandering to the north, east and south. Features lovely outdoor areas and courtyard with inground pool.
An extension to the garden is the 1.5km hedge maze of similar design to Hampton Court hedge of England.
