About the New England Region

New England North West is the name given to the region in the north of the state of New South Wales, about 60 km inland with two traditional centres of Armidale and Tamworth. Tamworth is now best known as the centre of Australia's country music industry and the home of the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre(AELEC).

The New England region is traversed by five major highways. The New England Highway, which links Tamworth, Uralla, Armidale, Guyra, Glen Innes and Tenterfield is a major route linking New South Wales and Queensland.
