PRESS RELEASE
The Point Piper of the Southern Highlands NSW
"Widgee Waa" | Kangaloon
Southern Highlands, New South Wales
In an area recognised as the rural lifestyle capital of Australia, the Southern Highlands an easy 90 minute drive south from the CBD in Sydney, the large rural holding Widgee Waa farm, comprising some 370 acres (150 hectares), is being offered for sale privately.
Located in the "Point Piper" of the picturesque and tightly held Highlands, close to the village of Kangaloon, Widgee Waa is being offered for sale by long time corporate advisor and former Board Member of Brambles, Telstra, and Fairfax Media, Mark Burrows. The property is an outstanding aggregation of highly fertile basalt soil pastured rolling hill country with magnificent views, which over the past 31 years has been improved, "with no expense spared" by the owner.
Burrows who also owns nearby Sugarloaf Farm stated, "I do not need two farms in the Southern Highlands and certainly not two of the largest land holdings in the area."
Burrows, now a senior advisor to Macquarie’s green finance lender, Green Investment Group, is spending much time offshore and felt it was time to let go of one of his great loves in life, Widgee Waa.
Chris Meares, Meares & Associates and Ken Jacobs, Christie’s International Real Estate are marketing the property which is expected to draw interest from the "who's who" of the corporate world in Australia. As they both agreed, Widgee Waa is a difficult property to value given its uniqueness, size and location - however there have been sales in the area ranging from $30,000 to $40,000 /per acre. One would therefore expect it to at least attract offers in this bracket or even create a precedent over and above.
Inspections have been taking place and an outcome is expected in the near future.
Price indicator: $13m to $15 million
